What is a transformer tap? (F, R, no symbol)

Answer

If the voltage of a transformer is “F220-R210-200”, there are transformers with and without “F” or “R” symbols.
Since the capacity and current differ depending on the type of tap, it is necessary to take this into consideration when selecting a transformer.

Using a single-phase transformer 10kVA F220-R210-200 [V] 3-tap as an example, we have calculated the usable capacity and current.
In the case of a F200V full capacity tap, the current is 50A and the capacity is 10kVA usable.
In the case of a 200V capacity tap, the current is approximately 47A, so a capacity of 9.4kVA can be used.
