Surge Isolation Transformer
Answer
■Insulation Type and Current Discharge Type for Lighting Isolation Transformer
Our standard Surge isolation transformer is an Insulation Type that withstands lightning surges by the insulation of the transformer without installing an arrester between the input (primary) side and ground.
As for the insulation type, since there is no current discharged by the arrester when the ground potential rise occurs, lightning surge current does not flow into the electrical equipment and other neighboring devices.
In addition, there is also an advantage that grounding can be installed easily since it is a single point grounding.
Meanwhile, in order to meet a wide range of customer needs, we can also provide the Current Discharge Type transformer with an arrester installed between the input (primary) side and ground.
■What is surge transition rate of a common mode?
The amount of attenuation of lightning surge that entered from the input (primary) side to the output (secondary) side.
Our Surge isolation transformer protects the equipment from lightning surge by reducing surge voltage to -60dB (1/1000) or less in common mode (balanced).
■What is Surge impulse withstand voltage?
Our standard Surge isolation transformer has an withstand voltage against the rated Surge impulse voltage waveform (1.2 / 50μs) according to JEC-0202 standard.
Input to output / ground: 30kV (1.2/50μs)
Output to input / ground: 10kV (1.2/50μs)
■What is insulation resistance?
Our standard Surge isolation transformer is designed with short-time AC withstand voltage based on JEC-2200 standard.
Input to output / ground: AC 10kV (in 1 minute)
Output to input / ground: AC 3kV (in 1 minute)
Surge Isolation Transformer has higher resistance strength than the typical dry-type transformer.
